What is D-STAR?
D-STAR is an open protocol standard published by JARL. It defines both an air link and a gateway protocol. The protocol provides for both digital voice and data transmissions. D-STAR users on various systems across the world can talk to each other via gateway connections through the internet. For more in depth information on D-STAR see the ICOM Website.

Do I have to register on your Gateway if I am registered on another Gateway?
Once you are registered on a Gateway, your callsign is registered on all Gateways on the network. The registration information is shared among all gateways connected to the trust server in Texas. If you are registered on the KØMDG Gateway, you can travel to any other city in the world that is connected to the D-Star network and talk back to your fellow hams in St. Louis.
Why doesn’t my IC-2200H display the caller’s callsign?
The IC-2200H design does not support receiving display information from the UT-118 D-STAR module. This is a major drawback with the IC-2200H/UT-118 combination. Because of this and the lack of one-button reply and other issues, we do not recommend this radio.
